ROAD SAFETY MINISTER DAVID JAMIESON LAUNCHED THE GOVERNMENT’S FIRST NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE STRATEGY (NMS).

At a meeting of the National Motorcycle Council held at the Department for Transport today, Road Safety Minister David Jamieson launched the Government’s first National Motorcycle Strategy (NMS).

The NMS is the culmination of five years’ work by Government in partnership with the motorcycle community, A key stage in this process was the publication of the Final Report of the Advisory Group for Motorcycling last August. This report – a collaboration between the motorcycling community and the Department for Transport (DfT), contained a large number of recommendations, many of which feature in the NMS....

UPDATE ON AMENDMENTS TO THE SECOND EC DRIVING LICENCE DIRECTIVE

The UK's motorcycle lobby and training bodies have been alarmed by the suggestion of changes to the motorcycle test from amendments made to the Second EC Driving Licence Directive through technical progress. MOTORCYCLISTS AND SAFETY FENCES

Dealings with the Highways Agency's contractors for the Dualling Scheme for the A43 near Silverstone indicated that not only did they not consider motorcycles when choosing the type and location of safety fence but when the hazard that exposed posts pose to riders was pointed out, they claimed that they were forbidden .....
