Despatches news - Recent DA Action
Examples of Recent DA Action -
And speaking of change and continuity -
This is now changing. To continue to receive Despatches (and to benefit from all the other services we offer), you will have to join us, and for the first year, you can do this for just half price. Get more information about this by contacting the DA on 01553 813479 or at phil@despatch.co.uk . We hope you take up this unique opportunity to get the most for your business and show your clients your commitment to delivering quality service by joining the only trade association just for couriers.
Meeting members’ policy needs.
As result of changes in the climate of trade, members have requested three new Model Policies to help them prepare tenders. These are: a model Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement, a model Ethical Trading Policy Statement and a model Corporate Social Responsibility Policy Statement. In this day-and-age, simply having a policy on Terms and Conditions may not even get you past the Pre-Qualifying Questionnaire stage, and the DA now has, free to members, over 20 model policies to give you a competitive advantage.
Working together.
As is often said, it’s whom not what you know. Though our close contacts with all the major stakeholders in the courier and logistics industry, we were able to help out a member who, for his meeting the next day, needed some general statistics (see Did You Know?) on the industry. Two phone calls put us through to Dr. Sharon Ryan, Head of Research at the Freight Transport Association who kindly provided us with chapter-and-verse to help said member. We hope everyone as his meeting was suitably impressed with his breadth of knowledge.
Motorcycle matters.
DA member Bob Doughty of City Bikes chaired a recent meeting of the National Motorcycle Council, a body charged, in partnership with the Department for Transport, with implementing the Government’s Motorcycle Strategy. The meeting was attended by the then Minister of State for Transport, Dr Stephen Ladyman and Bob ensured that on all relevant matters, the views of the courier industry were well represented.
Explore your options.
As several DA and RDA members have discovered over the last few months, there is more than one way to skin the recessionary cat. By simply making a phone call or dropping an email to the DA Office, help is almost instantly available on such matters as marketing and promotion, employment issues (redundancy is not the only option), state of play of the industry and how to write a tender bid.
