Paragon sponsors rowers in world record breaking Indian Ocean Race -

Paragon Software Systems, the vehicle routing, scheduling and transportation solutions specialist, is sponsoring two intrepid rowers in their world record attempt to row across the Indian Ocean. The Indian Ocean Rowing Race will see a number of solo, two-man, and larger teams attempt to row the 3,780 nautical miles from Perth Australia to Mauritius.

The Paragon sponsored rowers – Team MSS, Guy Watts and Andrew Delaney - expect to be at sea for 3 months in their attempt to claim a world record as the first pair of rowers to cross the Indian Ocean all in the aid of Orchid – the charity dedicated to tackling male cancer.

Staff at Paragon’s headquarters in Dorking, Surrey, will be ‘routing’ for the rowers as Guy Watts is the brother of Paragon-employee, Tom Watts. With the race due to start April 19, Paragon will be following regular satellite tracking updates from onboard telematics supplied by MarineTrack.

The Indian Ocean Rowing Race is the ‘world’s toughest ocean rowing race’ and is a massive physical and mental undertaking. The two rowers will encounter treacherous water and weather systems as they row for 90 days from Western Australia to Mauritius. If they succeed, Watts and Delaney will be the first and youngest pair ever to cross the Indian Ocean using a rowing boat.

Paragon are helping toward the GBP 76,000 that the pair need to compete and all extra proceeds will go to Orchid (www.orchid-cancer.org.uk) - the only UK charity solely dedicated to the fight against male cancers. The fundraising target for Orchid is GBP 125,000.
“This is a fantastic challenge and everyone at Paragon is supporting Guy and Andrew as they attempt to row across the Indian Ocean. We are also very pleased that our sponsorship will help raise funds for Orchid who play an invaluable role in raising awareness and funds to help in the fight against male cancer,” says William Salter, Managing Director of Paragon Software Systems.
